Conscious of the difficulties of integrating photovoltaic solar power in buildings, ONYX SOLAR © has developed different types of photovoltaic glass adaptable to practically any type of building complying with the requirements specified in the Technical Code of the Building.
Our range of photovoltaic glass might be summarized as follows:
-
•Laminated Safety Glass. Available in different thicknesses and sizes.
-
•Insulating thermal and acoustic glass (double glazing). Also available in several thicknesses and sizes.
For the integration in windows and curtain walls we have developed photovoltaic glasses with the junction box hidden behind the frames. Likewise all the glasses are available in different sizes and degrees of transparency. Thanks to this feature, in addition to producing electricity they are see through so the integration is perfect as glass for windows or curtain walls.
One of the principal applications of our laminated glass is use as a ventilated photovoltaic façade and roof for which a complete package of services and complementary products has been developed to facilitate the installation in any type of building.
Onyx Solar © Photovoltaic Ventilated Façade and Roof
Contemporary architecture is showing an increasing interest in the different materials available for use in ventilated façades and roofs.
Inspired by this rise in interest, ONYX SOLAR © has designed a photovoltaic ventilated façade and roof system, a product with undeniable aesthetic value and unbeatable in terms of heat insulation that generates free electricity from the sun.
The generated electricity can be used for personal consumption or can be marketed.
This system will be able to reduce the energy required by a building by more than 40%.
To exemplify the amount of electricity produced by our system just one square metre is capable of generating the same amount of electricity needed to power 3-6 light bulbs, which is approximately equal to 20-40kW/h per annum. (this varies slightly depending on orientation of facade and the building location).
For example, in Marseille, one single square meter of ventilated photovoltaic roof would generate more than 1,000 EUR of income and will mitigate the emission of more than 10 tons of CO2 during its lifetime.
Utilizing a financial perspective, thanks to these two unique characteristics, and subject to the type of building and its location, our ventilated photovoltaic façade can achieve an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) superior to 25% and a payback period inferior to 5 years.
ONYX SOLAR © presented in the World Future Energy Summit celebrated in Abu Dhabi its new Building Integrated Photovoltaic Solutions. The presentation in Abu Dhabi anticipates the worldwide launch of the new ONYX Ventilated Photovoltaic Façade and Roof.
ONYX SOLAR © claims with its range of solutions to contribute to the protection of the environment avoiding CO2 emissions in two ways: energy saving and electricity production. Our company has designed a complete range of value added services to help architects and planners in the adoption of sustainable green building and development practices to be able to achieve the highest possible rating in systems like LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
